Tyrone Centre of Education & Training
Garvaghey

The Award Winning Tyrone Centre of Education & Training is situated in a 43-acre complex, the centre piece of which is the 30,000 sqft Administrative Headquarters, designed as an interpretation of the Celtic ‘T’.  The building has been developed into a design centrepiece, in harmony with its setting and integrated into the landscape on a sensitive site.

“Absolutely amazing – A credit to the hard work of the people of Tyrone and in particular County Board,” Michelle O’Neill, DARD – Minister

Healey Park Stand
Omagh

The construction of a 5,000 seater stadium along the western side of the pitch at Healey Park, Omagh was designed to create maximum impact and lift the profile of Tyrone County grounds. The scheme comprises an eighteen metre cantilever roof and provides an unobstructed view of the pitch, while maintaining good protection from the elements. This stand, linked with the construction of a Control Tower on the opposite side of the pitch, ensures that Healey Park remains widely regarded as one of the leading grounds in the province.

Glamping Pods
County Tyrone

The buildings are located in Davagh Forest Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of Cookstown within the Mid Ulster area of Northern Ireland. Davagh Forest Park boasts one of the ‘darkest skies’ in Ireland. The site is a rich landscape of substantial archaeological and cultural significance including Beaghmore Stone Circles and has a history which spans millennia.

The Glamping PODS are a part of the same family as our visitor centre and observatory located in the same park.

We have developed the PODs to pick up on the irregular nature of the park and landscape. The buildings are intended to be sympathetic to their surroundings in both form and material selection. The timber facades will soften over time and the grey timber will be a subtle architectural marker in the landscape.

NIRFS Tactical Fire Fighting Facility
Cookstown

Our practice was appointed by the main contractor for the structural design of the new Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) Learning & Development Centre at Desertcreat.  The Tactical Firefighting Facility is a six-storey concrete framed building that will provide a realistic environment for Firefighters to train in ‘real fire’ scenarios.  As part of the first phase, the development also includes a building with welfare and classroom facilities and a new access road to the site.  The facility will be used to train for high rise building fires as well as a range of domestic and commercial property fires.

Ardboe GAC and Community Hub
County Tyrone

The proposed building has been developed in tandem with the Club Committee. The proposed community building is a replacement for the existing club house which was dated and no longer fit for purpose. We worked closely with the club and its members through various community engagement events, to develop the brief that informed the building form. The intention was to create a building that served all of its members in a flexible engaging way. The members wish to cater for all age groups and create a building that represented the community and is an outward reflection of the organisation.

The building entrance is highlighted with the use of a large overhang that acts as a visual marker. The internal spaces were arranged around a central core that was developed to encourage interaction and activity. A viewing gallery was developed at first floor level with a link to a first floor external play area. The material choice and associated detailing is robust and appropriate to present a lasting visual representation of the club and its members’ ideology.

Healey Park Control Tower
Omagh

This futuristic control tower won the RSUA Design Award for excellence in Architectural Design in Northern Ireland. The project began with the aspiration to provide a unique facility to promote the safety and comfort of its patrons using contemporary Architecture to create a landmark icon in the sport. Constructed to high specifications on three levels, the building is part of the third phase in a major development at Healey Park and comprises a modern retail unit, state-of-the art media centre and control room. It’s a strong example of innovation in design linked with practical thinking, its interior features calm quiet spaces, juxtaposed with balconies where visitors can soak up the live atmosphere of the crowd below.

South Tyrone Hospital
County Tyrone

In September 2011 we were commissioned by SH&SCT Estates to prepare scheme proposals
for the phased structural repair, external recladding and overall improvement of the visual aesthetic of the Tower Block and Entrances to this prominent Dungannon Hospital. In March 2013 work commenced on an 18 month programme for the phased refurbishment of the Hospital Contract Value £2.5m.

Davagh Visitor Centre & Community Hub
County Tyrone

The building is located in Davagh Forest Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of Cookstown within the Mid Ulster area of Northern Ireland. Davagh Forest Park boasts one of the ‘darkest skies’ in Ireland and was hand picked as the location of a New Visitor Centre and Dark Skies Observatory. The site is a rich landscape of substantial archaeological and cultural significance including Beaghmore Stone Circles and has a history which spans millennia.

We have developed a building that reflects it’s surrounding. The building picks up on the irregular nature of its surroundings, rising and turning until it reaches the buildings focal point, the observatory. The building in intended to be sympathetic to its surroundings in both its form and material selection. The timber facade will soften over time and the grey timber will be a subtle architectural marker in the landscape.
