The building is located in on the edge of an area historically associated with linen production. Whilst most of the building stock has been demolished a large brick chimney still stands as a reminder of its industrial past.
We have responded to Dungannon’s built history and reinstated a material and form that has been in decline in the area. The building form was developed following a process of research into the area’s linen mills. Linear brick buildings with deep window reveals, large openings and traditional detailing were evident. Our proposal is a manifestation of this form and detailing.
